Queesland Government Arts and Cultural Sector Plan

When considering applying for grants from Arts Queensland, you should read the Sector Plan. Strong grant applicants include responses to the sector plan in their aplications. See AQ Development and Presentation grants info here.. and other grants listed here.

Applications that are successful demonstrate exceptional artistic merit, a clear benefit to the Queensland community, evidence of collaboration with arts and non arts partners and a strong budget and financial planning that demonstrates project viability and the track record of the project delivery team.

Applicants are encouraged to:

  • clearly address the Queensland Arts and Culture Sector Plan 2010 – 2013 goals - thoroughly read the relevant guidelines before completing the application form
  • clearly respond to each section of the application form ensuring the criteria is addressed to avoid repetition
  • clearly indicate the benefit to the Queensland community, for projects that involve work outside of Queensland
  • diversify their income further for example by considering other funding bodies, such as the Australia Council for the Arts. Seek funding through other sources and/or sponsorship arrangements to evidence commitment from other partners, and
  • Phone Arts Queensland and speak with an Arts Development Officer to gain a better understanding of what is required and to seek advice regarding the project budget.

Australia Council Grants Information

Here is where to find the dance grants from the Australia Council. The Dance board would like to encourage all applicants to make their applications clear and concise. Please use straightforward and clear language - it does not need to be in an academic style. It is also useful to structure the application by using each question as a header. A number of applicants are failing to respond to all of the questions. These questions are designed to tease out your response to each criterion your application is assessed by, so it is important to respond to each of them.

Care should be taken when filling in the budget. All applicants are encouraged to double check the figures before submitting the application. Your application must present a break even budget where your income and expenditure balance with the inclusion of the grant you are applying for.

Many applicants are using the media form more successfully to strengthen the link between the application and visual material. The quality of moving image support material is very important. Applicants are able to make a direct address to the board through this material if they choose to and may also use title cards between clips if there are a number of works. Moving image material will only be accepted by vimeo link for future rounds. DVDs will no longer be accepted.
